Yeong Yik Sung

Dr. Yeong Yik Sung is currently an Associate Professor at the Institute of Marine Biotechnology and the School of Fisheries and Aquaculture Sciences at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu. His research primarily focuses on application of heat shock proteins (Hsps) for disease control in aquaculture, detection and use of hormone peptides as biomarker for sex identification in fish as well as application of live food organisms in aquaculture. During his tenure as a lecturer, he has produced 1 Ph.D, 15 M.Sc. and more than 50 B.Sc. thesis students. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Dalhousie University, Canada, Tianjin Agriculture University, China and Kagoshima University, Japan. Administratively, he has held the position of Deputy Dean at the Faculty of Fisheries and Aqua-Industry and the Acting Deputy Director at IMB in UMT. He is now the Head of Immune and Molecular Therapeutics Program at IMB and the Secretary of the ASEAN Fisheries Education Network (ASEAN-FEN).
